Facebook has confirmed that 50 million of its users were affected due to security error, which allowed hackers to take out personal information from these accounts. The company discovered this on Tuesday and then told the police to continue the investigation.
Users who are affected are automatically logged out with their accounts on Friday and log in again to use Facebook. If Facebook’s app or Web browser recently encouraged you to log in, although you did not log in manual, then it means that your account came in the hack.
The vise president of the company said that all the affected accounts have been fixed and as a precautionary measure we also reset another 40 million accounts.
The social media firm also said that hackers will be able to access connected accounts linked to other websites. Facebook credentials are used to easily log in to other websites. So this means other websites like Amazon, daraz, or yayvo etc may also be affected.
A company spokesman said he has not yet determined which accounts were misused, or what information was used to extract information. He also confirmed that the personal profile of Mark Zuckerberg and Sherlock Sandberg – also got affected.
Invaders were able to exploit a code error in Facebooks option “View as”.The Facebook “View as” feature allows you to see what your profile looks like with other users. It shows your profile with your Facebook friend, the mutual friend or public viewpoint so you can see which information is shown.
The timing of breach is not good for Facebook because they trying their best to convince lawmakers of America that, it is capable of protecting user data.
