Mobile Phones Import Witnessed A Phenomenal Growth In 2017-18


Mobile phone imports witnessed an unprecedented growth of 19.44 percent in the financial year 2017-18 because 2016-17 was estimated at $ 847.654 million in the same period of time.
In June 2018, the mobile phone imports increased by $ 9.91 billion in the year of 2018, up from $ 87.717 million to $ 72.55 million in 2017, and increased by 7.81% to $ 81.362 million in May 2018, in which in 2017, Pakistan Bureau Statistics (PBS).

Overall telecom imports increased by 13.48 percent during the fiscal year 2017-18. Compared to the same period last year. In the period 2016-17-17, total imports of US $ 1.534 billion were recorded compared to $ 1.351 billion. Telecom imports in June 2018 were $ 127.908 million and during June 2017, the increase of 34.15 percent was higher than $ 102.198 million.

Other telecom appliances import increased by 6.9 percent in 2017-18. During the corresponding period last year, it was $ 642.119 million compared to $ 686.432 million.

The caring government initially worked on the policy guidelines to reduce the bill imported by the import logic of mobile phone handsets and other telecom devices. However, with the rest of the office for a while, there is no possibility of the government to come up with any policy.
Pakistan’s commercial deficit suffered a loss of $ 37.67 billion in the financial year 2017-18, which was 15.95 percent from $ 32.488 billion for the last fiscal year.

In order to target $ 25.7 billion in the last fiscal year, the government has not been limited to the exports of the total exports against $ 60.898 in exports of $ 23.228 billion.

To reduce the exports and to generate additional income, the federal government announced a new type of 5000 rupees to import mobile phone handsets in the budget 2018-19.
